It’s finally SUMMER! Nothing says summer like Strawberry and Blueberry pretzel jello. You can’t go wrong with something that consists of pretzels, cream cheese, cool whip, jello and fruit. This is one of the most requested items for me to bring when going to a party.
Since the 4th of July is coming up, I wanted to find a way to make this dessert a little more festive, so I decided to put blueberries in with the strawberries, and let me tell you………it turned out DELICIOUS! And is the perfect RED, WHITE and BLUE dessert for your picnic.

Ingredients
- 2 c crushed salted pretzels
- 3/4 c melted butter
- 3 tbsp sugar
- 8 oz cream cheese (room temperature)
- 1 c sugar
- 8 oz cool whip (one small container)
- 2 c boiling water
- 6 oz package Strawberry Jello
- 1 1/2 c cold water
- 1 lb fresh sliced strawberries
- 2 c fresh blueberries
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
- The easiest way that I have found to crush the pretzels is to pour them in a gallon size ziplock bag and break into pieces.
- Once the pretzels are crushed, pour into a bowl and add the melted butter and sugar. Stir until well incorporated.
- Press evenly into a 9×13 in baking pan.
- Bake for 10 min. Allow to cool before putting the filling on top.
- Place room temperature cream cheese into a bowl. Beat the cream cheese and slowly add the sugar. Mix until light and fluffy. Gently fold the cool whip into the cream cheese mixture.
- Spread the filling evenly over the COOLED pretzel crust. Make sure to get all the way in the corners to seal the crust. If not, the jello will soak through and make the pretzel crust soggy.
- Gently mix together the boiling water and Jello until the gelatin dissolves. (It is important not to stir vigorously or use a whisk. If you do, the jello will get a foam on top that doesn’t go away. It tastes fine, but doesn’t look very nice)
- Add the cold water and stir.
- Place in the refrigerator (you can also put in the freezer if you are a little short on time, just make sure to keep an eye on it.) allowing the jello to thicken slightly.
- Once it has thickened slightly (approx. 1 hr), stir the sliced strawberries and blueberries into the jello.
- Pour over the cream cheese topping and spread the fruit evenly.
- Place back in the refrigerator and allow the jello to set completely, 2-4 hrs.
Notes
Not a fan of blueberries? Not a problem, just leave them out. You can add a little extra strawberrries or keep the recipe the same. Add whichever berry you like!
